Phobias are a type of anxiety disorder A phobia is an intense, debilitating fear of specific objects, situations, feelings, or animals. Unlike general fears, phobias involve an exaggerated or unrealistic sense of danger.

When severe, they can significantly impact daily life, leading individuals to avoid the source of their fear and experience considerable distress.

How Can I Help...

I offer a range of therapeutic approaches that can help both children and adults with this presentation:

​

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Talking therapy which can be adapted for Neurodiverse individuals.

  • Family therapy.

  • Parenting support and training sessions.

What are some symptoms of Phobias...

​

These may occur upon encountering the feared object or situation, or even just thinking about it, known as anticipatory anxiety.

​

Physical Symptoms:

  • Unsteadiness, dizziness, and light-headedness

  • Nausea

  • Sweating

  • Increased heart rate or palpitations

  • Shortness of breath

  • Trembling or shaking

  • Upset stomach 

 

Psychological Symptoms:

  • Fear of losing control

  • Fear of fainting

  • Feelings of dread

  • Fear of dying
